OVERHEAD CONDUCTOR ASSESSMENT & HARDWARE ANALYSIS

FIELD-AGED CONDUCTOR ASSESSMENT

Do you have a conductor that has:

  • failed in service?
  • experienced thermal or mechanical overload?
  • sustained flashover or lightning damage?

Should it be replaced?

The decision to re-conductor is not trivial. Reliability, safety and economic considerations should be supplemented with sound, comprehensive analysis and straightforward recommendation. Whether your samples are new of removed from service, NEETRAC offers a wide range of testing capabilities to assess the condition of your copper and aluminum conductors.

HARDWARE ANALYSIS

NEETRAC can help you avoiod costly mistakes by performing a comprehensive analysis of your overhead system hardware.

WILL YOUR SYSTEM PERFORM AS PREDICTED?

We regularly perform qualification tests on HV Extruded Underground Cable and Cable System components. Tests are conducted according to AEIC CS7, IEC 60840, IEC 62067, IEEE 48 and IEEE 404. Systems up through 400 kV can be tested. Test reports provide independent certification that all test procedures are performed according to appropriate requirements.

Knowing the dynamic response characteristics of this Stockbridge damper gives you the assurance that your overhead line is adequately protected from wind induced vibration.

Do your overhead lines need:

  • Vibration dampers?
  • Armor rods?
  • Specialized conductor?

Let NEETRAC help!:

Hardware commonly analyzed at NEETRAC includes:
  • Connectors
  • Dampers
  • Poles and Arms
  • Rods
  • Clamps
  • Switches
  • Insulators
  • Fasteners
We can Evaluate:
  • Material hardness
  • Shear torque
  • Fracture toughness
  • Cantilever strength
  • Corrosion and aging
